Textiles – Blankets

This craft is from Bihar in the north east. Sujuni is the straight running stitch embroidery on layered fabric. A fine running stitch all over the sheet in a similar colour as the base cloth creates the background. The design is then filled in with tiny running stitches in coloured thread. Narrative elements on nature, religion and daily life are all represented.
